3rd Step Prayers

We pledge to God that we will accept His will as our will, and live according to the word of the Bible. A transformation of life through the word of Christ; which is easy to say but tough to truly do, especially for many of us who have lived lives of arrogance away from Christ for a long period.

While abusing drugs or alcohol, we do not pray with an open heart, leading us from God's love. Now we are sober – maybe struggling – but sober, and now when we pray we are ready to feel God's love and guidance in return. Now our prayers have meaning.

When you struggle, the answer is prayer, always prayer.

The third step is a step of prayer.

AA Big Book Third Step Prayers

God, I offer myself to Thee—to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!

Amen

God, Take my will and my life. Guide me in my recovery. Show me how to live.

Amen

Anonymous Third Step Prayer

God,

I've been away for a while, but now I'm back
I've missed You, and I need You
God, I've made a mess of things, and although I've done wrongs on my own, I'm asking for Your help to start doing right
I don’t know the way out of this, but I know that You do, and I'm ready to listen
God, please lead me and take away my pain so I may serve You better
I am yours, and I am ready
God, let me start again

Amen
