Sunrise Recovery Ranch is a leading drug and alcohol rehab for men in Southern California. It is located in the Riverside foothills of the stunning Big Bear Mountain. Sunrise Recovery Ranch offers a peaceful and effective setting for male clients to begin the journey to long-term recovery.
Sunrise Recovery Ranch is a small, intimate treatment center. Unlike many hospitals or institutional settings, we have a beautiful ranch house with a pool outside the sliding glass doors. Situated on acres of rolling greens and a pasture for the Equine Therapy horses, the residents truly feel like they are at home rather than in a treatment center.
The 30 day program provides a highly structured and supportive environment. The goal of recovery is long term sobriety. One of the most effective tools of recovery and sobriety is the supportive network of the 12-step programs. With this in mind, individuals also attend 12-step meetings in the community under supervision as well as meetings “in-house” that are attended by persons in the AA community.
Contributing to the process of addiction recovery is our highly skilled staff, many of whom are in recovery themselves and can share their special insights into the healing process. Working as a team, they create an environment within which residents begin to understand, address and recover from a wide range of personal issues affected by the addiction such as family and social relationships, school, work, health, and spirituality.
The Family Program is managed by the main Sober Living By The Sea center and situated in the Corporate Beach House in Newport Beach. The resident participates in the three day program after completion of the initial 30 days at Sunrise Recovery Ranch. However, if there is a need before that time, we will bring the family out at the three week juncture to participate in group counseling.
Sunrise Recovery Ranch also provides residents with a number of 90 day Extended Care options. These include Sober Living by the Sea's highly acclaimed academic T.E.A.C.H Program, Working Residential, Reflections and its Intensive Outpatient Program.
Sunrise Recovery Ranch's rehabilitation programs for men treat chemical dependency including alcohol, heroin, opiates, cocaine, methamphetamines, ecstasy, steroids, marijuana, and prescription medications like vicodin and oxycontin. The success rate of their treatment program is high.
Via its partner network, Sunrise Recovery Ranch also offers safe and comfortable detoxification facilities that can provide the appropriate medical care for men who are in need of a medical detox from drugs or alcohol. Their staff of clinical recovery experts is equipped to assess clients upon intake and on an ongoing basis to assess if the client is suffering from a dual diagnosis (such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or PTSD). Psychiatric treatment needs are addressed simultaneously to ensure clients recover more effectively.
The clinicians at Sunrise Recovery Ranch have created a highly supervised program where the detoxification process comes first, before the men are caringly guided to address the inner underlying issues that caused their addictive behaviors.
Sunrise Recovery Ranch is part of the Sober Living by the Sea Treatment Centers in Newport Beach which has been treating men in need of addiction rehabilitation for over 20 years in Southern California.
Sunrise Recovery Ranch helps its residents understand their disease, to accept responsibility for their recovery, and to find an alternative to the emotional turmoil that previously characterized their lives. Through carefully structured drug treatment programs Sunrise Recovery Ranch combines a 12-Step-guided approach together with group therapy and individual counseling. Primary care treatment also includes outside psychiatric evaluation, medication management, activities, life skills, dual diagnosis counseling, and spirituality groups.
After the primary treatment is successfully completed (in 1-2 months), an extended care program is recommended, which is slightly less structure and with less supervision, at our long-term rehab Sober Living by the Sea.
There is a direct correlation between time spent in treatment and success rate for maintaining long term sobriety. Therefore, once a patient has successfully completed primary care at Sunrise Ranch and maintained his sobriety at our Sober Living by the Sea facility in Orange County, we have additional levels of care for the client to engage in while at Sober Living by the Sea which will allow them to receive long term support and continue to receive treatment while working, receive treatment and go to college, or receive treatment on an outpatient basis.

The various types of drug and alcohol detoxification require a unique treatment approach. These groups focus on day to day social and life skills. As the result of years of alcohol and drug abuse many chemically dependent people have failed to develop successful living skills. These groups enable residents to practice life skills that will facilitate their ability to live sober, successful lives.
Specific techniques are taught on how to live and enjoy a sober lifestyle. The resident learns how to identify individual triggers that lead to relapse and receives help and suggestions on how to come through these situations sober. The focus is on behavior and how to affect positive change.
This group promotes consistent individual involvement in their treatment process. Residents identify treatment goals and assess their progress as they proceed through the program. Each week, individual goals will be established and specific techniques for reaching these goals identified.
These groups provide a forum for residents to resolve underlying emotional issues that may stand in the way of recovery. On an individual basis, specific behaviors, past beliefs and habits are discussed and by using the group process, effective problem solving techniques promote the development of new and productive ways to handle difficult situations.
Current methods of dealing with anger and their outcome are examined. Using the group process, residents learn new and more effective ways to manage anger. Through role play and assignments, they have an opportunity to test and refine their new skills.
With over twenty three years of experience treating substance abuse at our California drug rehab, the staff at Sunrise Recovery Ranch is intimately familiar with how the family of the man who is drinking or abusing drugs can be torn apart.
There are the mothers and fathers who suffer through sleepless nights worrying about the well being of their son. There is often a spouse or significant other who has experienced the hurtful and irresponsible actions of the man whose behavior is shaped by his chemical dependency. Children of men who are alcoholic or abusing drugs often exhibit mood disorders and suffer greatly because of the abuse and neglect that occurs in a home where drugs or alcohol are being abused.
The mothers, fathers, and spouses of the men who arrive here in sunny Riverside, California know that underneath the careless and hurtful actions of the substance abusing man is their child, husband, or boyfriend whose life is controlled by their drug of choice. The stress and hopelessness that comes as a result of caring for someone who is suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction is damaging and can destroy lives.
As soon as the patient arrives here in Southern California, he will be screened and assessed by our intake department and an admissions counselor will begin the process of designing an individualized treatment program.
Every man at our treatment facility has tasks that he must complete with all of the other men which help foster responsibility and accountability. Our experience has shown that by keeping all of the men working together forms a bond of fellowship - even with the staff (many of whom are in recovery themselves).
When the men wake up at 5:45 and are taught to make their bed neatly, their day starts on a positive note and their self esteem begins to build immediately. Throughout the day they continue by participating in positive recovery oriented activities, including physical activities that break up the workshops, support groups, and therapy sessions. The men will be required to keep their area clean, and wash their own laundry correctly. Other household chores help build structure and discipline into the man's life which greatly aids in recovery.
The treatment program at Sunrise Recovery Ranch is designed to provide help for the entire family system which is integrated into the recovery process. For the first two weeks the man who is admitted to our recovery program will not have telephone access as part of his treatment program, but the case manager and treatment team will be in touch with the family of our male client immediately and often.
The clinical staff at our Riverside drug rehab for men is here for you to patiently answer questions you will have about your loved one's recovery. We also have twenty three years of building a nationwide network of mental health professionals and have the ability to refer you to highly regarded therapists, doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and addictionologists in your area should you seek further treatment or information. After the initial "no contact" period the family is welcome to come to Southern California and attend group family counseling sessions at our treatment facility. We feel that the family can be an integral part of the man's long term recovery program and we welcome the family into the man's "wheel of treatment."
Men who come to Sunrise Recovery Ranch will quickly clear their mind of the drug that is controlling their lives and see that they must work on their recovery to begin a new life that is greater than they could have ever imagined.
