Slowing Down While Recovering from Speed

I am in meth recovery clean for 9 months. I am so bored all of the time that I want to blow my brains out (not for real. just sayin). I have a job as an office assistant and data entrey clerk. It is as fun as it sounds ): This is my third job in 6 months and I only even got it because my uncle got me in. It pays pretty well but it is like torture. My sponsor says I need to suck it up and that I can’t expect excitement all of the time and that is what gets me wanting to get high. I don’t know how people can do this kind of thing for years without going crazy.

Hey there and thanks for your question. Short answer - your sponsor is right (that's one of the most annoying things about sponsors - they usually are, especially when they're telling us things we don't want to hear).

Check your perspective. You're already talking about this like you're going to be stuck there for years even though it's your third job in six months?

It's about attitude and gratitude. Your uncle went out on a limb, right? I'm not saying you should like the job. I am saying you obviously have people who care about you and want to support you. Want something better? Awesome! What's your willingness to earn it?

Get your legs under you. First we crawl, then we walk, then we run. I get it - you're bored and quite frankly that's one of the most dangerous things a person in ealy recovery can be. Easy fix - do some meth and get your heart and mind and life racing again. Hard to see anything going wrong with that plan, eh?

If you're bored you're missing an opportunity. Manageability is key, if you need excitement then the drug I recommend is adrenaline - but do some hang gliding or parachuting and stay clean. Boredom sucks but it doesn't kill. Meth of course does. Being alive is seriously cool once you get the hang of it. Good luck!
