Is it true that saunas help you when you are trying to quit cocaine? I kind of believe this because I the best way I know to get rid of a hangover is to exercise hard for an hour or so so I can sweat out all of last nights toxins.

Jim LaPierre Says...

I'll put saunas under my all inclusive category of "whatever works for you is cool with me." Yes, sweating (and crying) release toxins and facilitate detoxing the body of what it needs to rid itself of. Obviously, your body does not want cocaine nor alcohol. These substances are toxic and folks seem to forget that.

"An ye harm none, do what thou wilt." - St. Augustine

If something helps you to get/stay clean and sober - as long as it's not hurtiing anyone (yourself included) i say it's good. Saunas, hot tubs, and especiaally massage therapy are amongst my favorite forms of self care. Caring for ourselves is the opposite of destroying ourselves - which is what one does with cocaine.

Sweat it out and invest in yourself! Good luck!
