In his soon to be released autobiography, the Black Sabbath singer admits that he almost died countless times over the years through heavy cocaine and alcohol use and says he’s grateful to be alive today.

Ozzy talks a lot about the crazy years, the drugs, the sex - and even the rock and roll in an autobiography that tells the story of more than 3 decades in the business; and looking back on it all, he’s thankful he’s still around to tell the story.

Osbourne described the lifestyle, saying, "With the drugs, it nearly killed me on a daily basis -- I did a lot of heavy drug taking for a long time and I survived it by the grace of God. With the sexually transmitted disease, what I was doing is playing Russian roulette with sex."

Through the pages Osbourne recounts a drug taking career that began at about the age of 20 and spanned more than 30 years to the age of 54. He describes himself as a compulsive user, someone very unfamiliar with the ideals of moderation, saying, “See, I can’t have a casual line of coke, that doesn’t equate in my head. I never went to the bar for a drink, I never smoked a joint. I used to go into a bar to get absolutely shitfaced. It didn’t really occur to me that other people were going there for a drink.”

Describing the band and the music band, Osbourne says, "We were just four kids from Aston in Birmingham who had a good idea and it worked out fine." When asked about retirement, Osbourne says he’ll keep playing music for as long as people still want to hear it, saying, “I ain’t changing who I am, I just want to continue.”
