Nelson Mandela’s Great Granddaughter Killed in DUI Accident after World Cup Concert
The driver of the car, who is a relative, was drunk and is facing criminal charges that may include culpable homicide.
A spokesperson for Nelson Mandela’s Foundation released a statement, saying, “Mr Nelson Mandela this morning learned of the tragic death in an accident of his great-grand-daughter, Zenani Mandela. It would therefore be inappropriate for him to personally attend the Fifa World Cup opening celebrations”
Nelson Mandela, now 91 years old, has reduced his public appearance schedule as of late but is reported to remain in good health.
