Newborn Baby Girl Born to Drunk Mom Has a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.29

Forget Lamaze – on Monday, a 38 year old woman in Otwock Poland had a few good stiff drinks prior to stumbling into a hospital, in labor and ready to deliver.
Her blood alcohol at that point was 0.12, and when her infant daughter was tested shortly after birth, the child had a BAC of 0.29 - which is almost 15 times the legal limit for driving in Poland.
Police were called after hospital staff realized the woman was intoxicated. A hospital doctor has reported that although the infant is "in no immediate danger" she may face longer term developmental delays and challenges.
The new mom has been charged with endangering the health of a child, and faces up to 5 years in prison if convicted.
